(ese) AFAIK your right that HTTP is the protocol used from ISP to ISP
(ese) but the ISP can provide you with what ever protocol they want
(ese) to transfer files. GDFN lets me use their HD to download files
(ese) from web pages for short time storage which of course is
(ese) a very fast download. I can then download the files to my HD when
(ese) it is convenient, similar to downloading e-mail. They provide
(ese) 5 different protocols, including z-modem & ftp. The GDFN provides
(ese) the text-based browser (lynx) so you don't need a browser on
(ese) your computer. I download my mail & other files with z-modem
(ese) so I don't have much experience with FTP transfers using
(ese) FTP commands.
