Carl,
I've been able to do it. Your arachne.cfg looks fine to me. Are
you able to connect easily to Freewwweb.com? Sometimes I can,
other times I can't. When I can, I surf a while, then download
mail, look at it, then answer some. Freewwweb is not at all 
perfect, and it is believed that they might be overloaded. I
had some slowness in the email area occasionally, but when it
does work, it works good.
