I have never had any problem reading my mail using Arachne v1.6x. The
problem may
be the POP3 settings of your ISP. A few years ago, when we were using
another ISP, I wasn't able to retrieve my email using Netscape (!), although
Eudora worked
fine.
After sending the password, maybe the server generates an error message
(i.e. "Mailbox in use"), too fast too see on the status bar.
