Hello Ron:
Your description of Arachne's behavior upon accessing this web page has
popularly been called "going to sleep" by list members. We have been
discussing this kind of thing at least since version 1.20 when I hopped
aboard. I do not recall anyone's bringing up the topic in recent posts.
There are many web pages where Arachne will go to sleep. On some of
these same web pages Arachne will not go to sleep if you access the page
at a different time on a different day. (This may be due to an overloaded
server condition in the case of these web pages) In the case of many
other web pages where Arachne goes to sleep, we cannot agree on an
explanation. Some people think the problem has to do only with overloaded
servers. Others think Java Script, or other causes are to blame. I myself
have not investigated the problem sufficiently to formulate an opinion.
This is a subject people like to argue about.
