 It's no problem in Arachne. Just delete the "s" from https.
You may do it in the URL line itself after getting the "unknown protocol
in URL" message. Or you may press F4 to edit the page itself and the F2
to save the edited page. Now when you submit the information, http will
be used for the URL instead of https. (no error message)

To help us track-down the cause.....

 Exactly what were you doing at the time these "crashes" happened?
Did they happen when you pressed F4 to edit the page?
Was it when you pressed F2 to save the page?
Was it when you pressed the "Del" key to get rid of the "s" in https?
