Hve you considered that not all the DOSes running Arachne can/do set
handles that way?

P.S. This is a thing we've been hashing out for over two years now;
anyone who's been on the list for awhile has already fine turned
config.sys and autoexec.bat to the ultimate best setup for Arachne. Some
of us even have more than one setup, and others have even more than one
computer running more than one version of Arachne on more than one brand
of DOS.
