I just tried to "eat" free memory with the method described by Clarence
but with both versions of Arachne I use (1.60b1 and 1.61) it doesn't
work. Switching to options/preferences lowers the memory 2kB, switching
to an otherpage gives it free.
IMHO such behavior depends on the OS running on Your computer. Former
I used PTS-DOS and I've seen many xSwap errors on different lines in
different modules. There were problems with ptscache, too, so I decided
to change to OpenDOS 7 and everything works fine. I haven't seen any
memory problems for weeks. I'm currently running an AMD 5x86 with 133
MHz, 32 MB RAM, ELSA TrioV64+ Video card with 2 MB RAM, 6GB HDD.
Arachne is running normally from HD with 1024*768 high color, starting
with 122(+) free memory (1.60b1).

Since OpenDOS and Arachne work fine together I can only this
