I just tried with one of my RAR files (4.6MB) and it didn't have any
problems (copy some_drive:\file1.rar some_other_drive:\file2.rar)

I recomend using move instead (atleast when you want to get things out of
the cache).
I still think that your problems come from using an old DOS version (3.x IIRC)
