I think I've figured out what the problem is -- and it's a bug in
Arachne viewing.

My website [sig block] uses and overlying texture. I want the color
scheme to remain usable [since I'm using white & colored text] if
someone accesses the site without image download capability -- or if
they just want to quickly load the page and not screw with graphics [I'm
trying to remain Arachne compat, so am avoiding jpg when possible so no
conversion necessary]. That means that I don't want a white background
with white text. Better black than white, and better still a blue close
to the texture gif colors.

Arachne refuses to go back to bgcolor= if page is loaded w/o graphics
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This isn't just on local files! I went to the website itself, and
regardless of what <body bgcolor=#33ccff"> says, Arachne will NOT
display it. If the image isn't loaded for body, Arachne defaults to
selected html background color.

Michael, this is *not* a good thing!

Would someone else go to the url in my sig, and load it with graphics
turned off, and tell me two things: What color is the screen background,
and does it match what you have set as default in html bg in arachne.cfg???
