Clarence,

I'll take your word that you rode 1.64 hard and put him away wet.

However, I just shelled out and did another chkdsk/f ... 7 chains into
three files. This time all three files created ended up being intact
outgoing mail that had been immediately sent. [Since I'm "on-line" all
the time with the LAN setup, I seldom save to out-box and then send the
mail.]

When you mention going from VGA to EGA do you mean hitting the minus &
plus keys to change resolution? I don't recall ever having problems
with that in Arachne, not even with my 486 and the older video card. I
do that all the time when I'm "surfing" and all the time when I'm
writing web pages [gotta check to make sure they work at high res,
800x600 & 600x480 or whatever that is].

I calls 'em like I finds 'em. I'll be darned if I know what's causing
it. If I knew I'd try to quit!

But I do know that before it was never *complete* GIF files, never
*complete* mail files, like the mail files are now. Next time I collect
files that claim to be GIF I'll change the names on a few and see what
shows up.

To stay with DOS I'll put up with it. I do have adquate HDD space and
do perform periodic maintenance on the HDD, so it's not going to cost me
a downloaded file or a HDD full error message. But it could be "killer"
for other people with floppy install of Arachne, or small HDD ...

I was hoping the the Linux development, and the obvious [to me] changes
in 1.64 might have covered that base too. <sigh>
