Bob, I think Berend's problem was the F7. But since it is assumed you know
about F7 then yours should be different.
 
First, I think we can assume that the receipt of {{{}}}}{ type characters
means you are connected and the ISP wants to use PPP now. If you had a
login script and it proceeded properly, then I guess the password has 
been validated. It could be, however, that the ISP wants to validate in
PPP mode and your script hasn't even started. In this case you would turn
autologin off. (Arachne,cfg variable Autologin No)

In the event you really are logged in, then there are two things I know of
that will stop further progress. One is the nameserver number(s) may be
wrong or missing. The other is a problem that I had way in the past when I
used a split install. Part on HD, part on Ramdisk. I had to specify my
paths COMPLETELY in Arachne.cfg. Only one mattered, but I can't recall which.

There may be other possibilities.
