You have got to be kiding, one thing I will not do is look inside the .exe
file for the information. A better approach would be to create a small file
when apm is used with the information needed (requires changes in core.exe
and apm.exe).

Not always. I can only compile the changes I do, the changes others do will
become available to me at the same time as you can get them.
