No, I do not want to re-phrase that. I did say "IMHO". If your idea of
having fun is to look at a ShockWaved webpage instead of watching a good
comedy program on TV, then that is OK. Different people like to have
their fun and enjoyment in different ways. I am not marginalizing anyone.
I am stating merely that it is my opinion that most Arachne users do not
use the internet primarily for the purpose of seeking audio and visual
entertainment. They are looking mainly for textual information, to include
humorous articles and jokes as well. A joke page can of course provide lots
of entertainment, but this kind of entertainment is usually just text and
very readily accessible by Arachne. This type of web page is not of the
visual and audio variety typically seen on a TV comedy. If we were mainly
after the visual and audio stuff that is out there in cyberspace, then most
of us would prefer to use NetScape or MSIE and all the needed plugins.
To most literate people, entertainment presented in the form of good
writing is just as enjoyable as visual and audio fun stuff.

Yes it is. If I had no access to any TV channels I would get a VCR
for my TV and I would rent some tapes.

Anything that can be bought in your town can be bought here too. You
just need the money. The same is true anywhere else, but the prices
will vary greatly from place to place.
I am not and never will be too mature to have a little fun, and even to
do some silly childish things from time to time. If I want to have fun
by watching something on a CRT, I will not want to waste my time waiting
for 20 minutes for a webpage to download. I can just simply turn on the
switch on my TV and start enjoying some entertainment almost instantly.

PostScript and TelNet are not trivialities. ShockWave is a triviality.
For camera, lights, and action, I'll just watch TV. As for yourself,
you can do your own thing too. It's OK with me.

Yes, that is mainly what we need. ShockWave is not needed for accessing
any normal traditional web-page. I wouldn't want to waste my time anyway
just to view a ShockWaved web page. In doing so I might miss something
good on TV. I will just have to be selective in deciding what is best for
me to view. Life is too short. I'll never live long enough to enjoy
seeing everything that's in it.
