I've been working on this one for quite awhile, and finally had some
progress. A reminder: I was trying to setup a 486 as a LAN server,
and get the P350 connected to it as a client.
Out of no choice, I had to install Windows 95 on the 486. I stripped
about 40% of it, leaving only what is -really- required. (Except for
mineswipper. I'm not putting Windows without putting Mineswipper.)
The problem is this: what server software should I install on this
Windows 95 platform, that will allow DOS, Windows, and maybe Linux
clients in the future to be able to connect to it? I'm talking
about a real LAN. Network cards are allready installed. Now I only
need an appropriate server software (for win95) and client
software (for either DOS or Windows.).
Best solution is if the server software is freeware, ofcourse. :)
(For those who wonder why i'm doing this: The 486 will be connected
24/7 to the internet via ISDN dial-up. Will provide internet services
to the LAN. This way I can reboot as much as I want with the P350
without having to disconnected/reconnect, and when using Arachne it
will save quite alot of memory.)
