Well I ALMOST tried that. I tested A162 to make sure it was the same as
before (1 sec load Pref from cache) and renamed the core to core.sav
after wiping the cache.
Then I tried to do the same ting with A166, but it failed the initial
test. It appeared to take slightly LESS than 1 sec to reload those
pages from cache. A bit of a difference from the problem 26 sec !!
The previous tests when I noticed the problem, took place no more than
one minute apart on this same hardware and I could swap back and forth
between versions and the problem hung in there. I guess I'll just have
to wait 'til it comes back and try to track it down.
