Weird... I couldn't duplicate it either anymore...
Probably has something to do with the VA banner, they
change it regularly, not on each pull.  Too many mixed
colors?  Well, you could always create some "heavy"
multicolor animated banners by yourself, and slap them to
the page, trying to find the trigger.  But I think it
won't worth the time, the problem isn't that important
anyway...  (you could easily fished a hi-color card out
of the dumpster nowadays ;-)

(back to the topic...)

* Default and 256C.APM: both has animated GIF support,
  and both exhibits the same shrinking GIF problem.
* MMEM166.APM:  No animated GIF, no apparent problem.

My guess is that the shrinking GIF problem should be
related somehow with animation.
