If you have a look in your public library, you may find
a Linux book with a Slackware CDrom in the back. Or you
can get a Slackware CDrom for $2 from

These win9x boots are probably using loadlin.exe. This
will work with DOS. Just search through the CDrom for
a .bat file that looks something like this:
---------------------------------------------
loadin vmlinuz root=/dev/ram initrd=setup.gz
---------------------------------------------
The parameters may be different. For example vmlinuz
could be bzimage or something else.

OK, my 100meg Linux system is comprised of these
Slackware packages:
----------------------------------------------------
aaa_base bash bin binutils byacc
devs e2fsbn egcs elflibs etc
fileutls find flex gmake grep
groff gzip hdsetup icewm ispell
ldso less libc linuxinc lx2034
lynx manpages modutils netscape pine
ppp procps sh_utils shadow sysvinit
tar tcpip1 tcpip2 txtutils util
x332bin x332cfg x332doc x332fnts x332fscl
x332lib x332man x332prog x332set x332svga
x332vg16 xpm
----------------------------------------------------
My netscape is 3.04 (available from the Netscape
archive). The netscape package in Slackware has
a MUCH larger footprint.
Cheers,
Steven
