Because you hit the F2 key when the cursor was not in the text area.
The F2 key only saves the message currently being composed when your
cursor is in the text area.

If you have hit the "tab" key and then you hit F2...... you see the result.

In order for word wrap to work, the cursor must be at the end of the
line.

I'll demonstrate....

This line will be typed with no space at the end of the line and when I
reach my "word wrap point" it will wrap to the next line.
(the above worked just fine and "wrapped" as I typed the letter "r" in
the word "reach". And then the the above line "wrapped" as I typed the
"h" in the word "the")

This line will be typed with a space at the end of the line and when I reach my "word
wrap point" it will not wrap to the next
ine.
The above line is 133 characters long beginning with "This" and ending
with "line. " (the trailing space might get "cropped-off" in transit)

So here it is with a ")" added to the end by placing a second trailing
space at the end of the line.

This line will be typed with a space at the end of the line and when I reach my "word
wrap point" it will not wrap to the next
ine. )
________

The second cause of "failed word wrap" is if we type something out of sequence.
(by this I mean that we go back into a line and insert some text in
between some text we have already typed).
In this example I typed all but the word "something". I then used my
backward arrow to go back and insert "something". Since the line was not
long enough to require word wrap without "something".... it didn't wrap.
Since my cursor was not at the end of the line when the line *did*
exceed the "word wrap point".... it didn't wrap.
_____

The third cause... Cntrl+T toggles word wrap on and off. That's quite easy to do by
mistake by accidentally hitting the Cntrl
ey when you really meant to hit the shift key to get an upper case "T".
I just now did that on the above line by moving my finger downward just a
little bit as I typed the "T" in the word "That's".
Since the letter "T" did not appear on my screen.... I simply tried again
but this time I hit Shft+T not Cntrl+T
After finishing the first line of this paragraph, I hit Cntrl+T again
to toggle word wrap back on.

 You might be asking....
"Where did you find out about the Cntrl+T function?"
