gpm is a daemon that runs all the time... on my machine
anyway. I generally have 4 or 5 consoles open, all using
gpm, and simultaneously using X.

It's not a gpm problem... and if it's not an SVGAlib problem,
then that means it's an Arachne problem.

So, are you saying that Arachne does indeed use gpm?
If so, then the problem would be with the way Arachne uses
gpm rather than with gpm itself.
