I think you missed the point. When your free e-mail provider
goes belly-up, you still have to send an e-mail to everyone who
uses that address to inform them of your new e-address.
I was [EMAIL PROTECTED] for over 8 years. Most of that time
it was a pay service. Once delphi decided to change from
subscriber based revenue to ad-based revenue, they discontinued
all the "premium" services such as web hosting, e-mail, telnet
access, etc. "FREE" stuff has a tendency of having short life
spans.
Another example, my "free" web-based [EMAIL PROTECTED] address
only lasted about two years before it they discontinued that.
The only way to assure yourself of a truly permanent e-address
is to register your own domain. You and you alone then determine
when that e-mail address "goes out of business." ;-)
Since Internic was unburdened of its monopoly on domain registration,
you can now get domain names in the range of $10-$15/year.
