I'm using ggi-2.0b2.1-1. (just over 1 MB installed, and even
at that, there's lots you could delete if you wanted to)

I would think that as long as your X display is at least 800x600,
then Arachne GGI should display just fine. As Michael said,
Arachne-GGI doesn't use the SVGAlibs at all.
