  I figured you'd get a kick out of that.  ;-)
  Even though basic is such a kludge, I still find myself 
sometimes thinking "next" at the end of a for loop.  Those old 
habits never do seem to completely go away.  I probably need to do 
more programming in a real language (python, for instance) to 
completely exorcize that demon.

  That does make things easier for a lot of things.
(like removing entire packages so you don't have to keep track
of where each file is hidden)

  Check your /var/log/dmesg file to see what's detected and 
recognized on boot.  
  That should at least give you a starting point.  If you don't
have it, I can send you the CDROM-HOWTO.
