Hello Arachnids:
The web site named below has a message and an attached UUENCODED file
which, when properly decoded, will be a self-extracting archive for a
dummy packet driver and associated docs and source code.
http://www.flora.org/lynx-dev/html/month011998/msg00057.html
Using Arachne 1.66, I downloaded the file to disk. Then I snipped out
the UUENCODED text and attempted to UUDECODE it. I got an error
message saying there was an invalid character in line 3. The same thing
happened when I accessed the same URL with Net-Tamer and downloaded the
file and attempted to UUDECODE it.
When I access the site using the DOSLYNX 386 browser, everything works
fine. I download the file and it decodes properly. BTW, the dummy packet
driver works just great for doing off-line work on several of my DOS
internet applications.
Does anyone else have problems with maintaining the integrity of this
UUENCODED text when downloading it and saving it with Arachne? In
reporting your results, whether good or bad, please do not forget to
mention which version of Arachne you are running.
All the best,
Sam Heywood
