Curious indeed. When I download with Arachne files are saved to
\arachne\download.  All you have to do is press alt -e and then
type dir download and you'll get the directory listing. Or you can
mouse click through the desktop. No fishing around in the cache
required.

You do have to first click on "save file" after the download and
Arachne copies the downloaded file to the download directory.

You can specify in "Options" where you want downloads to go--that is
to say in what directory you want them placed.
