Dear List:
I got someones computer in a fine mess yesterday. Upon starting it
would run Arachne, throw up the Error PPP screen, try to dial (in spite of
autodial off), and when you hit esc. it would try to read mail from a
nonexistent floppy and persist after you told it not to indefinitely.
The cure finally was to reboot the computer, and edit arachne.bat and
 arachne.cfg.
What fixed things was to change the home page location.
I had been too clever by half in assigning it to readmail.dgi.
I gather Arachne thought she was on line, and with PPP not working the A:
 drive was the next choice.
The reason there was no A drive is a long story, to do with non compatible
IBM PCs.......
The owner was convinced eventually that having ftp.ook was as good as an
A drive in this climate.
The rotten word wrap has failed already...the irritating thing is that
it boldly proclaims (apologies Terri) in the BL corner that <wrap> is on.

Arachne gave me a bad time the day before also, eating a long email when
I hit F2 with the mouse pointer in the wrong place. I nearly recovered
the situation also by dredging it out of Textarea.tmp, but for some
silly reason kept chasing the file through temp and download and writing
over the top of it with fresh .tmp files . grrrrr!
James spent the week in similar matters trying to code the
queue-update-refresh aspects of his train control software.
