Neil,

When I add RAM to my Gateway, I have to set DIP switches on the motherboard.  
I don't know if it will report lower RAM or not use the added RAM if I don't 
set them.

The last time I priced SIMMs for this motherboard, they ran about $50 for 16 
MB.  Unfortunately, this motherboard requires 72 pin, Fast Page Mode, Parity 
SIMMs, which are infinitely more expensive than EDO, Non-parity SIMMs.  (The 
motherboard is a Micronics motherboard, for those who might be wondering.)
