That was pretty much what I was doing [except for checking to see if
winpkt already loaded\] ...

My problem is that windoze won't let me quit if I don't "close" Trumpet.
If I "close" it, then Arachne can't find the driver for the NIC,
although it's still nicely loaded.  :(  I use dozerware so seldom; is
there a way to quit windows and *not* close trumpet???

I'm using version 3.0 of Trumpet, complete with timeworm.

When running Arachne [and NS] I'm using fixed IP; when I run Telnet or
FTP programs, that's (real) BOOTP/DHCP.

For those whose sensitivies I have impinged upon by "buckling under &
using dozerware" I offer the following palmative:  On NS my Home Page is
