You can use the DOS program VIEW.EXE to read it and also to convert it to
an ascii text file. I do this frequently. VIEW works great for M$ Word
versions up to Micro$oft Office Profe$$ional 97. I don't know if it will
work with the more "advanced" versions of M$ Word.
