However, you are correct.
1024 x 2 x 100,000 = 204,800,000 bytes (plus a little for "overhead")

(I wish I had that much memory) ;-)


800x600x256:
800 x 1 x 100,000 = 80,000,000

Even my normal setting of 5,000 requires
(800x600 Hicolor mode)

800 x 2 x 5,000 = 8,000,000
800 x 2 x 10,000 =16,000,000

So,
10,000 is still "doable".<g>
