 I *have* tried. (to no avail)

This is my setup for EMM386 instead of Qemm

3 copies exist with the "remarking" changed to use:

1) Emm386
2) himem.sys
3) both

--- config.sys ---
rem OPENDOS 7.01
rem DEVICE=C:\OPENDOS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\OPENDOS\EMM386.EXE DPMI=OFF FRAME=AUTO /R=AUTO
DOS=HIGH,UMB
SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM C:\ /E:1024 /P
BREAK=ON
BUFFERS=30
FILES=50
FCBS=4,4
LASTDRIVE=L
HISTORY=ON,256,ON

Notice how simple this is compared to yours ??? <g>

Also notice that I'm not using that M$-crap ??? <vbg>

However, I have also tried that "M$-crap".

This is the setup for MSDOS v6.2
(I keep a copy on FDD for testing purposes)

--- config.sys ---
rem MSDOS 6.2
rem DEVICE=A:\MSDOS6_2\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=A:\MSDOS6_2\EMM386.EXE /RAM
DOS=HIGH,UMB
BUFFERS=30
FILES=50
FCBS=4,4
LASTDRIVE=L
BREAK=ON
STACKS=0,0

(3 copies of this one also exist to test all 3 combinations)

Autoexec.bat on that FDD changes the comspec to c:\msdos6_2\command.com
(one of the very few MS files still on any of my HDDs)<g>

Again, notice how simple this config is compared to the one you use?

IMO, Simpler is better.

Just for the heck of it:

Try the above config with only those items added to it which you
absolutely *must have* for running your cable connection versus a
dial-up connection.

To give you a "base line".

(if you get the "no hot linking" error page, just press "R" ) <g>
