I have a question.
I had for a long time used Arachne for my Internet connection
until my provider (this is Novosibirsk State University computer
center) changed from Unix server to MS NT server. Now I simply
cannot log in. I connect with my modem to provider but then the
server doesn't ask me neither for login nor password, and
nothing at all happens.
Nobody from the provider's office can explain me why this is so.
(all the people are young and new, old unixoids left our
university computer center for another job). They only answer
that with MS Windows everything should be OK. So, my position
now is as follows: I have login and password, I know DNS and
proxy and mail login, pop3 and smtp server, etc., but I can't use all
this information to use Arachne with university server. Even
the mail from my university mail box I can get now only throu
another internet provider.
Any ideas? Can anything be done?
