Hi Sam, Neil;
I'm not much into computer sound, but I got an old SoundBlaster card in
a junk store and stuck it in my computer.

I have installed NO drivers, and I have NOT got a SoundBlaster variable
in my config.sys.
Arachne plays .WAVs just fine with PLANY.exe.

Maybe drivers aren't required for DOS ? All you should really need is
some interface program that starts your CD I think.

Re: Mp3s, again I think it is the job of the player to find the card and
send it the stuff. I don't consider the player to be a "driver" in the
true sense of the word, since a driver is usually installed in config.sys
and stays in memory.

Of course, this may all depend on whether your sound card is SB compatible
- sort of like modems being Hayes compatible. <G>
