I also emailed the Simtel site.
I forward their reply and my first email to them.
I have not yet tried to download from the Minnesota link, having spat
the dummy somewhat, and decided I can live without Simtel if that's the
way they feel.
Cos' Garbo still works. :)

Your problem has probably already been discussed there, and various
solutions suggested.
You don't NEED java, javascript, shockwave, or any of that junk. That's
not the issue.
No, the original site no longer exists. We discovered that thieves and
"link archives" were stealing our file catalogs; were creating their own
"archives" but pointing people to our files for downloads, letting us do
all the work.
We could not permit that to continue and still stay alive.
