The computer comes with an owner's manual. You are expected
to RTFM, just as you would do with any other equipment that
you might buy and you are unfamiliar with. In this country
one can go into a shop and without a license he may buy cars,
guns, chain saws, or many other things that one may use to cause
horrendous damage if mis-handled. You are expected to RTFM if
you don't know what you are doing.

What about dispatching a rabid or vicious animal? What about
defending oneself against an assailant when escape is not possible
and when non-deadly force is ineffective? What about eliminating
pests such as rats and dangerous critters such as poisonous snakes?
What about stopping a dangerously operated vehicle by shooting
bullets through the tires or engine block or radiator? (This sport
is recommended only for cops and casual heroes such as Clint Eastwood.)
What about shooting up flares as a distress signal? What about hunting?
What about recreational target shooting?

People who have AIDS kill a lot of people without noticing.

Same as with people with AIDS. Those who indulge in high risk
behavior should get themselves tested frequently. People who use
computers on line should run frequent virus scans.

I don't know much about Austrian politics, so I won't comment on that.
As far as US politics are concerned, it was time for a change of parties.
Look how badly the previous administration screwed up. The so-called
gun lobby gets almost all of its funding support in the form of
contributions from ordinary citizens, not from the gun manufacturing
industry. Most Americans are proud of the fact that our most powerful
lobby organization, the NRA, is controlled mainly by ordinary folks
instead of by some major corporate special interests.

This is true. Most people don't know how to stack up the comparison
tables. Therefore they can't make a qualified judgement.
