   G'mornig--
Roger, I've been using a boot disk for my HP Pavilion because when I
turn it on, it starts up in Windows 98....it takes about 3 minutes from
the time I start it to the time I can actually start using Arachne. I
have my hd partioned for Linux and W98 right now and at start up, the
RH boot window pops up and asks if I want w98 (default) or RH. When I
found DRDOS, it talks about using it with w95 and not having to mess
with the hard drive. I didn't know if I could use it on the Pavilion,
so I set DRDos up on the laptop which runs w95. When I boot up, it asks
if I want standard boot or drdos boot.
Question....can I install drdos on the Pavilion just like I did on my
laptop and if so, what will happen when I start the pc? Will I be asked
standard boot or drdos boot or will it start with the RH boot window
   first?
   Question....when I partioned the hd for linux/window I gave window 60%
to Linux 40%....can I change the amounts and add a third partion which
would be for drdos? say 50 for window, 25 for linux and 25 for drdos?
Sorry for these types of questions, I have lots to learn!
cheers and I hope the above made sense!!

I am not familiar with RH boot window. Is it based on Lilo?

DR-DOS might share a partition with W98 if it's FAT16 as opposed to FAT32.

You don't say how big the HP Pavilion hd is. DOS (FAT16) is very wasteful of
disk space on large partitions.

Resizing partitions without losing data is a tricky procedure. Partition Magic
is a well-known commercial software for this purpose. There is a GNU Partition
Editor, parted, recently released, runs under Linux, but I don't really know the
details of how to run it, or library dependencies, or even if it works.

I wasn't going to comment on the following excerpt from Ricsi and then
Sam Heywood, being so far off-topic:

RM> (look at the elections in austria where the idiotic FPOE got 28%,
RM> or even worse America were an illiterate, gun-lobby-controlled idiot is
RM> president ....)

SH> I don't know much about Austrian politics, so I won't comment on that.
SH> As far as US politics are concerned, it was time for a change of parties.
SH> Look how badly the previous administration screwed up. The so-called

Not so much an issue of the gun lobby, more about the environment, but an item
from ENS news (http://ens-news.com) of interest to somebody like me with
respiratory troubles indicative of asthma of five years standing:

BUSH ENERGY PLAN COULD INCREASE AIR POLLUTION

WASHINGTON, DC, July 10, 2001 (ENS) - The Bush administration's energy plan
would boost levels of dangerous air pollutants at a time when respiratory
diseases such as asthma are at an all time high across the nation,
environmental and public health groups charge.
