Hi Neil;
Find the initialization string linux is sending and use that in
your Arachne.cfg. Failing that, the following commands affect the
speaker in the modem: M0 = speaker off, M1 = speaker on.
L0 = loudness zero, L1 = loudness minimum to L3 = loudness maximum.
You can just add the command to the end of your init string - except
if you use ATZ. In this case this reset MAY override. Try a different
reset string - like AT&FL0 or AT&FM0. Sometimes the L0 isn't zero.
Personally, I like to have it on low so I can tell when something
is wrong. I just tried AT&FM0W2\V1 and it's toooo spooky. <g>
