I asssume you pressed g while in links?
Did links time-out or was there some other message?

Perhaps you could try ping (from the command line)
to a known address? Or telnet? Or ftp? Although
you'll need to know appropriate addresses for these
to do anything useful. For testing purposes, numbers
are better than names (because they don't depend on
DNS).

To check that your ppp connection remains functional,
enter 'ifconfig' at the command line. You should
find ppp0 there.

It appears you tried to execute /etc/resolv.conf.
It is not an executable -- it's a configuration file
that needs to be edited. You can do this directly
by going to the /etc directory and using edit. Or
you can simply run pppsetup and you will be given
the opportunity to modify /etc/resolv.conf

It doesn't matter whether you boot from a DOS/windows
harddrive partition or from a DOS floppy. The BasicLinux
filesystem (running on a ramdisk) is identical.

I seem to recall that Michael had partial success
running Arachne (DOS version) from DOSemu. This
was before the Linux version was developed.

However, I have no plans to incorporate DOSemu in
BasicLinux. Considering that BasicLinux requires
an existing DOS environment to boot from, there is
no need for it to provide its own DOS emulator.

Cheers,
Steven
