Hello Neil:

Welcome to Arachne!

I see you are not using the latest version of Arachne. I would
suggest that you copy your downloaded archive of the new version
to a directory named C:\ARACHNE. The name of the download is
ARCHN170.EXE. It is not a pkzip file. It is a self-extracting
archive. To extract the files from the archive just type the name
of the file at the command line prompt. (You could install Arachne
in any directory you want, but C:\ARACHNE is the directory where
most people like to install it, especially those who are newbies.)
You can run Arachne just fine without a mouse, but it will be
difficult for you while you are still a newbie. I suggest you set
up your system with a mouse before trying to install the new version.
First use a mouse driver that you are familiar with. Next you will
want to set it up with a different mouse driver that will conserve
more memory for you. Most of us use the CuteMouse driver by Nagy
Daniel, which is available for free download at this URL:

All the best,

Sam Heywood
