The installation of BasicLinux to HD is done by
BasicLinux itself (i.e. you need to boot BasicLinux
in a ramdisk). The ramdisk itself takes 4meg RAM,
so you need 8meg RAM to use this method.

However, all is not lost. The HD version of BasicLinux
will certainly run in 4meg RAM -- we just have to find
a way to get it onto the HD. The easiest way is to
(temporarily) move the HD into a computer with 8meg
RAM (or more) and do the HD installation there. Just
slave it to the existing primary master, or put it on
the secondary IDE (if the computer has one).

If the above method isn't possible, there is another
approach we can take, but it is quite complicated.
It involves creating an active Linux filesystem on
a floppy (leaving the RAM free) and using it to mount
baslinux.gz via loop. If you need to go this route,
let me know and I will do a step-by-step (although I
will have to do a lot of experimentation to get it
right).

Cheers,
Steven
