IMHO yes

But it is not adviseable to use CD-Rs for reading CD-ROMs.
The heads are too heavy, and they don't 'like' seeking for different
positions on the CD.
Doing so will reduce the lifespan of the cd-burner.

Mhhh ... I'm wondering ...
I thought that dell would offer a DVD player (which can play also CDs) with
the burner.
