As Michael is trying to earn some money by his programming work is there
any prospective for Arachne (or any DOS program) in the long run?
Even if Arachne would be an effective browser for today's web...?

Would it be possible to make Arachne effective if Michael stops on new
devellopments to Arachne for DOS ? I sure don't have the qualifications
to do this work but maybe I can help a bit.

Would it be possible to make Arachne fit to todays web (and the future)
by adding some more 'packages' or is this a more structural problem.

In practise I encounter 3 problems:

1- Java Script
2- HTTPS Security
3- No frames... that is what some webpages tell me.
"Sorry your browser does not support frames: entry denied"
IIRC Arachne does support frames and i am using just one frame on my own
homepage and Arachne is showing this correctly. Is this one of Bill
Gates tricks?

Bit right. Apart from Arachne I have some DOS programs running in daily
use. They do their job and very good.

But: Windows is used also, I have to. I cannot find a DOS alternative
for these programs... and do not see any new DOS programs to do the job.
How usefull or good DOS may be... DOS becomes obsolete :-(((

I'am administering the solutions to the X-mas puzzle in our magazine:
the first e-mail from a DOS mailer has yet to come in.
75% outlook 25% others (BTW of the total 37% of the contributers did use
the postal service snailmail)

Are there enough programs for Linux?
At least I need: Word
                 Something like adobe photo shop
                 Drawing electronic diagrams
                 Excell
An equivalent to BASIC to devellop controllers to control electrical and
mechanical equipment.

Now I am switching to and fro DOS and Windows, A third OS will not make
things easy. Would be nice to delete Windows but that day will only come
if linux offers the same wild variety of programs.
