have look at http://www.opus.co.tt/dave/index.htm, many interesting
links there.

To view Word files, try VIEW, this works nice. To view PDFs, You can try
Acrobat reader for DOS, but this is very clumsy and can not handle the
latest PDF versions. There are some utilities to extract text and images
separately from PDFs. Have a look at the link above. If You have
GHOSTSCRIPT installed, You can use this to view PDF files, latest
inofficial DOS compile is 7.05, AFAIK. (BTW, GS can convert PS to PDF,
too) There is a little prog, to view PDF within Arachne via GS. If You
want to try it feel free to write me. Note, that this prog is in beta
stadium and You have to fiddle around with some config files with Your
favorite text editor.
