Ah - I glad somebody's mentioned this subject....
I'd be grateful if somebody could kindly point me in the right
direction regarding getting a DOS network to work from scratch. I have
two PCs, both running IBM DOS7 and each with a 3Com 3C509B-combo card
installed. (There's no Windoze anywhere on either machine - or indeed
anywhere on the premises!) I was hoping to be able to install some
drivers and then start copying files between machines using Xtree,
but I don't understand exactly what I need (between DOS7 and Xtree)
to make this happen.
I went to the 3Com site and downloaded the latest DOS disk for the
NICs, but when I come to install it, I'm asked to make choices about
Netware, ODI, and all sorts of other things that I don't understand the
meanings of. Now I'm stuck and I realise there's a whole chunk missing
in my knowledge.
I also wondered whether, if one machine has a dial-up internet
connection and the other one's running Arachne, it would be possible for
Arachne to connect to the dial-up over the DOS network link.
Thanks for any help!
Gerald.
