Laurie,

COMPRESS from PCTools will reorder the files if you specify various 
switches.  I will check the manual on the switches, but IIRC:

/OO   Ordinary Ordering
/OD   DOS Ordering
and a couple of others that I can't remember offhand.  (On of them takes a 
helluva long time to do each time.)
