I'm not sure it would help at all, the PowerPC ARC cases are ancient history in Solaris terms. They predate many many things that have significantly changes. I'm really not convinced they would actually help with anything current for adding a new platform, eg they won't actually help with adding say an ARM or MIPS port. The best advice I can give for any new platform/cpu is to follow what x86 looks like today. -- Darren J Moffat
