The "it" as you have used it is not at all clear to me. But for the sake of clarity: "I" feel the /mnt standard was sufficient by itself. "I" also believe that adding a new hierarchy "becomes" a standard given (sufficient) time, even if it makes little to no sense to add more complexity with having two places for "mounts". Also given enough time, the "new" standard makes plenty of sense, in as much as it is now a standard and folks will get use to looking in two places. (This is a sad thing to my mind.) That is why it all seems silly to me, and I am NOT glad about it... Of course, YMMV.
