The wombat can be replaced by changing your user profile in kcontrol, set a piocture there and the wombat is gone. kcontorl --> security --> user account greetings tpowa --- True, but I prefer to have no icon. (Which, IIRC, is KDM's default behavior.) And it doesn't appear that there's any way to set that from there. (That GUI seems to force you to choose one of the icons.) So it bugged me a bit once the Arch artwork was introduced that there was no easy way for me to keep it the way I liked it. I first tried just removing the .default.face.icon file. But then with every KDE upgrade it would wind up getting re-installed. So the only solution that I found long term, then, was to delete that file, then touch it (i.e., making it file size = 0) and then adding a line into my pacman.conf to not upgrade that file. (All of which had to be done as root, obviously.) It works, but it really is an ugly hack to have to resort to for something that should be very simple. If the Arch artwork wasn't being activated by default, I wouldn't have to go through any of this.
