Not stupid at all! Good idea. But I tried that before and after the downgrade. Both "Master" and "PCM," the important channels, are not muted. Of course, "Line" and some other channels are muted but that makes no difference when running under kernel 2.6.12 where sound works correctly.

I know that's a stupid idea, but just for sure - have you tried alsamixer and are you sure that there is not a muted channel?

Sound is still dead for me after the upgrade to kernel 2.6.13 no matter what I do to "/etc/modprobe.conf" or how many times I run "alsaconf". I've made sure my soundcard isn't muted and "lsmod" shows all the proper drivers are loaded proving "hotplug" has found "snd_emu10k1". Tools like "aplay" _look_ like they're working but just don't ... mmmm ... sound that way.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Any suggestions for what I might be missing?

Thanks ahead of time.
