Why would putting [k]dm as a daemon in the rc.conf be a problem?  I've been 
doing that ever since I started using Arch (~2 years now), and have never had a 
problem with it.  I list kdm as the last daemon to start up, and everything's 
peaches and cream.  Why would you say that's a bad idea?
