Additionally to Scotts suggestions you might wanna look into
rxvt-unicode which provides you with many displayable characters.
Basically it falls back to other fonts if the desired character isn't
present in the default font. Also, though the branch Arch is using is
not actively developed atm, you might wanna check out muttng. It's said
that it's unicode support has been a focus during the development.
In fact I can see many characters displayed ... in all these f***ing
spams...
